Trick R Treat Explained and Plot Details

At the start of the movie, a couple arrived on Halloween night after attending a Halloween celebration. The wife was not fond of Halloween and asked her husband to remove all the decorations. Despite his efforts to explain that it was just a festival and everyone follows its rules, she remained unconvinced and began removing the decorations herself. As she switched off the lights and uncovered the sculptures, she was suddenly attacked and killed by an unidentified murderer, who turned out to be a small child holding a lollipop.

Meanwhile, at a Christmas party, a girl named Laurie and her friends were searching for partners to accompany them. While the others found their friends, Laurie was left alone and had to find a partner on her own. As she embarked on her search, a mischievous child disrupted Halloween decorations in the neighborhood, breaking pumpkin lights and stealing candles from a man’s house. It was revealed that the man was the child’s principal, and he took the child with him to his house.

At the principal’s house, he explained the rules of Halloween to the child while the child enjoyed eating chocolate. Unfortunately, eating the chocolate had a negative effect on the child, and his condition began to worsen. Eventually, the child met his demise, leaving the principal shocked and regretful. The principal lamented that he had warned the child to check his candies before consuming them. Determined to deal with the situation, the principal decided to dispose of the child’s lifeless body somewhere.

As the principal offers candies to a group of children in front of his house, a peculiar child named Sam stands among them, his entire head covered. After receiving his candies, Sam leaves. The principal then takes the dead child’s body into his garden, where another lifeless body lies. He begins to bury the bodies, but his son calls him inside the house. The principal assures his son that he is working on an important task and will return shortly. Engrossed in his work, the principal is interrupted by his neighbor, Mr. Kreeg, who becomes a hindrance.

Eventually, the principal manages to bury the bodies and enters his house, where he and his son place the child’s head on the table, indicating their intention to use it instead of pumpkins. It becomes clear that both the father and son are serial killers. Meanwhile, the same group of children, who had visited the principal’s house for candies, continue on their quest to collect pumpkins. Along the way, they encounter an innocent girl who shares their love for Halloween and joins their group.

Eventually, they arrive at a mountain with a lake at its base. Among the friends is a girl who tells a chilling tale about eight special children who were brought to this very spot many years ago. These children troubled their parents greatly, leading them to hand money over to the school bus driver with the intention of causing their demise. The driver carried out their sinister plan by crashing the bus into the lake from the mountain, resulting in the deaths of all the children except for himself.

Moved by the story, the girl who shared the tale suggests offering pumpkins in honor of the eight deceased children. They continue collecting pumpkins as they descend via an elevator. Suddenly, the innocent girl notices a school bus up ahead and realizes the truth behind the story she had just heard.

While the innocent girl is attacked by people who appear to be zombies, she frantically tries to escape for her life. But, it turns out to be a prank orchestrated by her friends, leaving her feeling unwell. She retreats back to the elevator. Meanwhile, the sound of someone catches the attention of her friends. They soon discover that the mentally challenged children they encountered earlier have transformed into zombies and are attacking them. The friends rush towards the elevator, urging the innocent girl to quickly open the door. Suspicious of another prank, she hesitates and decides to ascend in the elevator alone, leaving her friends behind to face the zombie children.

Tragically, the children fall victim to the zombie attack. The innocent girl reaches the upper level, where she encounters Sam staring at her. Later, a lady is shown being attacked by a vampire who ultimately kills her and leaves her body in an inconspicuous location. The Halloween celebration is in full swing, and people assume it’s just part of the festivities, unaware of the real danger.

Meanwhile, a character named Laurie continues her search for a partner to attend the party. As she ventures into an abandoned place, she encounters the vampire who attempts to bite her. Laurie’s sister and their friends are celebrating the party elsewhere. Suddenly, a body falls before them, revealing it to be the vampire. Laurie arrives at the scene unharmed, and one of the girls removes the vampire’s fake teeth, exposing his true identity. The vampire turns out to be the school principal, who had put an end to the mischievous child. However, he was not a real vampire but had disguised himself to instill fear and harm others.

Confused by the situation, the principal asks the werewolf girls who they are and how he ended up there. As they look around, they notice numerous lifeless bodies strewn about, exposing the true nature of the girls as werewolves disguised as humans. Revealing their real form, the werewolf girls attack the principal, with Laurie leading the assault, ultimately ending his life. The group of werewolves then begins to feast on their victims.

Among the onlookers is Sam, who has witnessed the gruesome scene unfold. A flashback reveals that earlier, the principal had killed the mischievous child. At Mr. Kreeg’s house, a group of students had gathered to collect candies. However, Mr. Kreeg, who despised Halloween, scared them away with his dog, refusing to participate in the celebrations.

Later, Mr. Kreeg burns some photos and observes the principal through his peephole. This coincides with the moment when the principal was burying the child’s body. Sam attacks Mr. Kreeg, revealing his monstrous face resembling a pumpkin. The fight ensues, with Sam nearly defeating Mr. Kreeg. However, before leaving, Sam acquires a lollipop, leaving Mr. Kreeg with a lasting reminder.

One of the photos thrown into the fire depicts the eight mentally challenged children who had died on a past Halloween. It is revealed that the bus driver responsible for their deaths was none other than Mr. Kreeg himself. This explains Mr. Kreeg’s disdain for Halloween, causing him to cease celebrating the festival.

Eventually, Mr. Kreeg undergoes a transformation and becomes a changed man, embracing the spirit of Halloween once again. He distributes candies to some children and is seen in the vicinity of his house, encountering the son of the principal. The child, wearing his father’s shirt, recalls his late father, who had fallen victim to the werewolf girls.

In the end, the innocent girl continues her journey home alone, while the werewolf girls happily make their way back to their own house, now appearing as humans. Among them is Laurie. Meanwhile, Mr. Kreeg observes Sam, who is fixated on a couple. It is revealed that Sam was the murderer of the wife, as he had a lollipop in his hand. Mr. Kreeg returns to his home, only to hear a sound at his doorstep. Upon investigation, he discovers that the eight mentally challenged children have returned for revenge. Transformed into zombies, the children attack Mr. Kreeg, resulting in his demise. With this scene, the movie ends here.
