Saw 2 Ending Explained

In this gripping movie, we follow the harrowing journey of Michael, a police spy who unknowingly becomes a victim of the notorious killer known as Jigsaw. Michael wakes up in an unfamiliar room, his life in danger due to a deadly helmet secured on his head.

Through a chilling videotape, Jigsaw reveals Michael’s dark secret: he had been betraying people to the police, leading to their wrongful arrests and ruined lives. Now, Michael has only one minute to free himself before the helmet locks and causes his death. Jigsaw cryptically informs him that the key to his survival lies hidden at the back of his eye, forcing him to confront the consequences of his actions.

Despite desperate attempts to find the key and save himself, Michael fails, and the timer reaches its end, leading to a tragic end for him.

Meanwhile, Detective Eric, dealing with personal issues, has a fallout with his son, Daniel. When Eric learns about Michael’s case and the cryptic note he left, here we realize that Michael was his informant. The note also reveals a crucial clue that helps Eric and other detectives trace the origin of the masks used by Jigsaw’s victims.

They eventually track down Jigsaw, but to their surprise, they find a frail man suffering from cancer instead of the mastermind they expected. It turns out that Jigsaw had orchestrated an intricate plan to trap them and expose the corrupt detective.

In a nerve-wracking twist, Jigsaw reveals on monitors that Daniel, Michael’s son, and others are trapped in a room filled with poisonous gas, with only two hours left to live. Jigsaw discloses that he only targeted those he arrested based on false evidence, and he had Michael’s help in carrying out these schemes.

As the truth unfolds, Eric faces a heart-wrenching choice: save his son or bring Jigsaw to justice.

In a tense and thought-provoking turn of events, Eric, the detective, realizes that if he wants any chance of survival, he must abide by Jigsaw’s twisted rules. Following the rules, Eric agrees to have a private conversation with Jigsaw, where he is unnerved to discover that Jigsaw knows him intimately. Jigsaw reveals Eric’s dark past as a ruthless police officer who used extreme torture tactics to extract confessions, even going as far as breaking a prisoner’s teeth and framing innocent individuals.

Jigsaw justifies his actions, claiming that he wants people to appreciate the value of life and learn survival skills by facing death. He points out how Eric only truly understood the importance of life when it came to his son. Jigsaw reveals that he leaves a mark on the bodies of those who fail his tests, representing their inability to survive and appreciate life.

Meanwhile, the prisoners, unaware of each other’s identities, search for clues to understand why they are in this perilous situation. Amanda discovers a tape left by Jigsaw, revealing they have two hours to find the antidote for the poison gas in the room. The code to unlock the antidote is hidden at the back of their brains, symbolized by the colors of the rainbow.

Jigsaw further hints that each of them has a connection to one person present, and they can find clues from an X-marked mask hidden in the house. Despite a warning from Jigsaw not to use a certain key to open a door, Xavier disregards the rule, leading to the death of Gus due to a hidden trap.

As time ticks away, the prisoners desperately search for an escape route, eventually discovering a basement. Inside, they find new messages from Jigsaw, including one related to a person named Obi, one of the prisoners who unwittingly played a pivotal role in bringing them all together.

Jigsaw reveals that there are two antidotes hidden in a kiln—one meant for Obi, a gift for his role in kidnapping the others, and the other for a different prisoner. A cryptic recorded message adds to the puzzle, stating, “When you are in hell, only the devil can save you.” But everyone ignores it.

As the chilling story unfolds, Obi’s name is revealed, and Xavier, consumed by anger, threatens him. Unfazed, Obi bravely enters the kiln to find the antidotes, managing to secure one. However, while seeking the second antidote, the kiln door closes on its own, trapping him as flames engulf the room, and he tragically perishes. The other antidote is lost in the process.

The group discovers another room, triggering a timer and a tape indicating that it’s Xavier’s test. Xavier, a drug dealer responsible for ensnaring people in addiction, must retrieve a key hidden among needles to access the room where the other antidote lies. Instead of facing the test himself, he heartlessly throws Amanda into a perilous situation. Despite her best efforts, Amanda retrieves the key, but it’s too late, and the door locks forever.

In solitude, Xavier advances to the next room, where he deciphers a code left by Jigsaw, written in rainbow colors on everyone’s bodies. He realizes that the connection between them all is that each, except Daniel, was unjustly incarcerated due to Eric’s false charges. Eric, witnessing his son’s life in jeopardy, confronts Jigsaw to save Daniel. Eric deals a powerful blow to Jigsaw to force him to reveal Daniel’s location, leading them to a washroom. Jigsaw agrees to guide Eric but demands to go alone.

Xavier secretly follows them and, in a desperate bid, tries to extract Daniel’s number. During the altercation, Amanda questions how Xavier will read his number on his own back. Xavier, in a gruesome act, slices off his own skin to find the number, but his actions lead to his death when Daniel retaliates.

Meanwhile, Eric ventures to the location provided by Jigsaw, accompanied by the police force. However, they are shocked to discover that the victims are not present, and the video footage they saw was from a previous capture, leaving them haunted by the realization that events have already taken place before Jigsaw’s capture.

On the other hand, Eric enters the washroom in search of his son, only to discover Amanda’s lifeless body in the bathtub. As he approaches, the body injects him with a sedative, rendering him unconscious. When he wakes up, Eric finds himself chained and a nearby tape reveals a stunning revelation: Amanda, not Jigsaw, was the true mastermind behind the twisted games.

Amanda sought revenge against Eric for falsely charging and imprisoning her, leading her down a path of drug addiction behind bars. Jigsaw, in contrast, had saved her, helping her overcome her addiction and realize the value of life. Grateful for her second chance, Amanda started working for Jigsaw, becoming his accomplice.

Her sinister plan unfolds as she deliberately infiltrates the group of prisoners, with Eric being her ultimate target. Jigsaw had cryptically hinted that Eric’s son was safe, referring to Amanda herself. With a chilling declaration of Game over, Amanda seals Eric’s fate, leaving him trapped as the door closes.

The movie ends with an eerie smile on Jigsaw’s face, emphasizing the darkness and complexity of the story.
