Evil Dead (2013) Plot and Ending Explained

Evil Dead is a supernatural horror film. With an outstanding story and screenplay, it won’t take your eyes off it for a second. This is the story of five friends who go to their old house in the forest for a nigh out. This movie was released in 2013. The Evil Dead 2013 remake of the original Evil Dead (1981) movie. In this article, we will explore the ending of Evil Dead 2013 and we will know and understand what happened to them that night, how they got into it, why and how they come back alive.

Evil Dead Ending Explained and Details Plot

At the beginning of the movie we see a lonely girl in the forest. She was badly injured and bleeding. After that two men kidnapped her. Later we see the girl tied up in a secret hideout and kidnapped by her own father for a ceremony. The girl asked to see her mother many times. But her father told her that her mother was dead. The girl was ordered to be burned alive by an old woman who followed an evil book.

Despite his pleas, the girl was thrown into flames, and as she burns, she speaks in a demonic voice, accusing her father of killing her mother and revealing that it is now her turn. The father then shot his daughter in the head and killed her.

The next scene moves to the present where we see a group of friends gathering in an old house in the forest. A friend named David (played by Shiloh Fernandez) and the main character meet his friends after a long time. The main character named Mia (played by Jane Levy). She is David’s sister. They came here because David’s sister Mia was addicted to drugs, they came here to get rid of Mia’s drug addiction. Mia is panicking as soon as she enters the house. It was due to drug addiction. Mia says this place stinks. They think Mia is saying these things only to escape from this place.

Then David’s dog detects a secret hideout we saw earlier. David’s friend, Eric (played by Lo Taylor Pucci) discovers a book in a secret closet that is secured with wire to prevent anyone from opening it. This is the same book that old women have used for an initiation ritual at the beginning of the movie. Eric reads the magical formula from the book, ignoring the warning that it could open the gates of Hell and allow a demon to enter the world. As he reads, a mysterious force approaches Mia and makes her vomit. Also, she saw a ghost and experienced mysterious things.

As a result, she entered the house, took her car keys and left the place. Later, while driving, Mia encounters a demon and gets into a car accident. She was chased by a mysterious force that eventually possesses her. David and Olivia (played by Jessica Lucas) arrive at the scene and find Mia possessed by a demon. Mia’s friends bring her back to the forest house where she talks about encountering a strange woman in the forest and a ghost still present with them. But they thought all this was happening because of Mia’s physical condition. David later finds out that Mia killed his dog.

During a shower, Mia burns her skin with boiling water but David saves her. He took her to the hospital, but the road was flooded due to heavy rain. Mia smiles strangely, which shows that the demon completely enchants Mia. David took him back to the forest house. Reading the book of evil, Eric finds that Mia is possessed but no one believes him. Mia then gets possessed again. She is trying to shoots David but somehow Olivia takes the gun before shoot and they trap Mia in the hideout.

While doing so, Olivia becomes possessed and attacks Eric, stabbing him with broken glass and attempting to damage his eye with a syringe. Eric then attacks and kills Olivia to save his life. David took the shard of broken glass from Eric’s chest and dressed his wound. But his condition is critical due to bleeding. David then asks his friend Natalia (played by Elizabeth Blackmore) to fetch water and sugar from home. While doing so Mia tricks her and attacks her, bites her hand. Somehow David saves Natalia and locks the door to the hideout. Eric tried to burn the magical book, but it didn’t catch fire.

The book contained a warning that if a demon had a soul, it would rain blood and Satan would appear on earth. The book also gives three ways to stop Satan. The methods are to burn the possessed person, bury them alive under a mound of earth, or dismember them. Mia bit Natalia’s hand, causing it to burn continuously. She cut off her hand to escape from Satan. But still, Natalia was possessed by the demon and attacked David and Eric. She was going to kill Eric. David shoots her from behind to save Eric.

Now David decides to burn down the whole house, he sprinkles petrol on the fire, but suddenly Mia sings a song that her mother used to sing as a child. Hearing the song, David gets emotional and decides to save his sister’s life. David plans to bury her body outside, believing that if he does so the demon will leave her. He revives Mia’s body with electric shocks and prepares to bury her. Mia attacks him when he goes to the shelter to pick her up. Mia beats him badly and almost kills him, but somehow Eric saves him and Eric dies.

David is about to bury Mia but she begins to torture him emotionally. But ignoring her, David buries Mia but later he pulls Mia out and revives her with an electric shock. Mia wakes up and everything seems normal. But Eric, now fully possessed, stabs David in the neck with a nail. David realizes that he must set the house on fire to save Mia and does so before she dies from her injuries. Eric and David both died in the fire. Here it seems that the demon is now dead. But the demon possessed David’s soul after killing him.

The written statement of that book was that if Satan could possess a soul, he would come from hell to this earth. The demon returns according to the book and attacks Mia and breaks her arm. Mia fights the demon by cutting it into pieces with a handsaw, eventually defeating it. The monster’s body parts are pushed to the ground, and Mia walks towards a bright beam of sunlight. With this scene, the story is complete here.
